Cycling fans gear up as La Côte d’Or is a cyclist’s delight and perfectly primed for outdoor activity: smooth surfaced roads, amazing landscapes and not a car in sight. A considerable choice of routes includes a flat meander along the Burgundy canal into the town of Pouilly-en-Auxois and full blown annual “cyclosportives” accompanied by Tour de France icons!
Every June Claudio Chiappucci hosts his ride “La Chiappucci” at Arnay le Duc- 20km from La Grange. In 2019 Claudio was accompanied by 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans. The event attracts cyclists from all over Europe and several hundred take the route which always passes close by to the buildings of La Grange.
In July, French favourite Bernard Hinault arrives in Chailly-sur-Armaçon for his ride “Courir pour la Paix”. Again, this ride attracts riders from all over Europe wanting to ride alongside this 5 times Tour de France winner. The course finishes 200m from the buildings; you can cheer the riders on their sprint to the line from the garden!
